The Chattahoochee River forms the lower half of the border between the U.S. states of Georgia and Alabama, as well as part of the border with Florida. The Chattahoochee River originates in northeastern Georgia from a spring on Coon Den Ridge. The name Chattahoochee is thought to come from a Muskogean word meaning "rocks-marked". Another common name for the Chattahoochee River is 'The Hooch'
